Created by our award-winning team, each cabin is shaped by the belief that good architecture should be accessible, rooted in its place, and kind to the planet. Our designs bring together thoughtful form, careful detailing and low-impact construction.

Whether used as a quiet garden studio, a guest cabin or a simple retreat in nature, our cabins are designed to provide a sense of comfort and quiet luxury.

the cabins

Barefoot Cabins are a modular construction system that brings together efficiency and low-impact design. Our architect-designed cabin range is formed around three core types - Kuba, Penta and Hexa - each offering a distinct spatial quality and appearance while sharing the same principles of careful detailing, adaptability and sustainability.

Through an architect-led process, each model can be adjusted in size, layout and specification to respond to your site and how you plan to use the space, without the need for a fully bespoke design from scratch.

KUBA

“Essential space, beautifully simple.”

The kuba is about clarity and calm. With a small footprint and carefully considered proportions, its a high-quality space in a simple form. Every detail is intentional, allowing the space to feel comfortable, efficient, and quietly confident.

From an 8m² micro-office or meditation room, to a 15m² studio or a 25m² annex for guests or off-grid retreat, the kuba delivers exactly what’s needed, in a crisp, simple form.

It can meet permitted development rules so you may not need planning permission.*

penta

“More character. More comfort. Surprisingly spacious.”

The penta five-sided form creates interiors that feel surprisingly generous and inviting. The angled geometry, retains a small footprint (keeping foundation costs down) while opening up the interior, giving more space at arm/head height, and making it feel extra spacious.

Whether used as a 10m² gym or yoga den, a 20m² art space, or a 30m² family cabin, the penta is light, airy and has space to jump around in!

All this and it can still all come under permitted development!*

hexa

“Where space, craft, and clever design come together.”

The hexa is designed for those who want even more space and aren’t afraid to reach upwards. Its sculpted two-storey form still makes the most of a compact footprint but incorporates lots of storage space and has a options for utilising its extra height. Kids sleeping spaces, vaulted ceilings, high level balconies, or just amazing sky views - the options are yours. It’s size and clever design makes for a cabin suited to longer stays and greater immersion in nature. Carefully detailed and highly adaptable, it’s equally at home in a large garden, a field, woodland, or a more remote setting.

From a 20m² space-pod for couples retreats, to a 35m² compact family cottage, or a 50m² micro-house for comfortable extended living, the hexa offers a range of really exciting spaces.

Due to its size this does need planning permission - contact us to find out more.

Pricing

Turnkey cabin costs vary depending on size, specification and site conditions.

We’re working on a series of off-the-shelf options, these should be available here shortly.

Most people want some customisation and for us to review their site - as such cabins are priced individually following an initial design consultation (IDC) - book here.
This IDC allows us to confirm whether your ideal cabin can be delivered using an adapted standard cabin design, or whether a fully bespoke architectural approach would be more appropriate.

faq’s

Do your cabins need planning permission?
Most cabins can be built under permitted development (in a garden), but this can depend on site-specific issues. We can advise you on this at an early stage.

Are your cabins suitable for off-grid use?
Yes. Our cabins can be designed for off-grid living using solar power, composting toilets and low-energy systems. We can also plug them into the mains

How long does it take to build a cabin?
Most cabins take between 8 and 16 weeks to be built in the factory (depending on size and complexity). They can take as little as 2 days to install on site. This process is designed to minimise disruption and maximise quality.

Can I customise the design?
Yes. All of our cabin designs can be adapted in size, layout and materials to suit your needs and site conditions. This design process starts with an Initial Design Consultation.
