cabins
Barefoot Cabins are small, beautifully considered buildings.
Designed by the award-winning team at Barefoot Architects, each cabin is shaped by a belief that good architecture should be accessible, unique to its place, and kind to the planet.
After over 10 years designing custom homes for people, barefoot architects is applying its expertise in sustainable design and construction to a more ‘off the shelf’ solution. This enables the cabins to be significantly cheaper than our bespoke architectural works, allowing more people access to great design.
Whether it’s a quiet garden studio, a guest retreat, or a place to escape into nature, our cabins are designed to offer a bit of luxury to everyone. These cabins are carefully planned, thoughtfully built, and comfortable to use in any season. Natural materials, simple construction systems, and flexible layouts allow each cabin to feel both grounded and personal, wherever it’s placed.
KUBA
“Essential space, beautifully simple.”
The kuba is about clarity and calm. With a small footprint and carefully considered proportions, its a high-quality space in a simple form. Every detail is intentional, allowing the space to feel comfortable, efficient, and quietly confident.
From an 8m² micro-office or meditation room, to a 15m² studio or a 25m² annex for guests or off-grid retreat, the kuba delivers exactly what’s needed, in a crisp, simple form.
It can meet Permitted Development (PD) rules so may not need planning permission.*
our cabins are designed by architects and installed by trusted teams across the UK.

A simple system. Endless possibilities.
Barefoot Cabins are built around a modular construction system that balances efficiency with character. Three core forms (kuba, Penta, and Hexa) each offer a distinct space and aesthetic, while sharing the same principles of quality, adaptability, and low-impact design.
Each model is available in a range of sizes and can be tailored through an architect-led process to suit your site, your needs, and how you plan to use the space. From compact garden rooms to two-storey micro-houses, the system is designed to be customised for you.
penta
“More character. More comfort. Surprisingly spacious.”
The penta five-sided form creates interiors that feel surprisingly generous and inviting. The angled geometry, retains a small footprint (keeping foundation costs down) while opening up the interior, giving more space at arm/head height, and making it feel extra spacious.
Whether used as a 10m² gym or yoga den, a 20m² art space, or a 30m² family cabin, the penta is light, airy and has space to jump around in!
All this and it can still all come under PD!*
hexa
“Where space, craft, and clever design come together.”
The hexa is s designed for those who want even more space. Its sculpted two-storey form still makes the most of a compact footprint but incorporates lots of storage space and has a options for utilising its extra height. Kids sleeping spaces, vaulted ceilings, high level balconies, or just amazing sky views - the options are yours. It’s size and clever design makes for a cabin suited to longer stays and greater immersion in place. Carefully detailed and highly adaptable, it’s equally at home in a large garden, a field, or a more remote setting.
From a 20m² space-pod for couples retreats, to a 35m² compact family cottage, or a 50m² micro-house for comfortable extended living, the hexa offers a range of really exciting spaces.
Due to its size this does need planning permission - contact us to find out more.
