Timber frames underway for new Bristol City Council homes in Stockwood

Our recent site visits to Lacey Road, Stockwood, have shown exciting progress, with timber frame structures for the first blocks already erected.

“Most of the offsite manufactured timber frame structure, delivered by Donaldson Timber Systems, has been completed on the first block”

The project, commissioned by Bristol City Council, will deliver 26 new homes for the city. We joined the scheme in 2024, after planning permission had been secured, when the council appointed us to develop the technical design. This involved refining the scheme to meet the client’s aspirations for high-quality, functional, accessible, and sustainable housing, while also ensuring buildability and cost effectiveness through close collaboration with the contractor, Stepnell.

Since January, we have been working directly with Stepnell, completing the technical design and providing ongoing design input as construction progresses.

We’re excited to see the site taking shape, with more frames arriving soon, roof tiles going on, and brickwork due to follow in the coming months.

“Roof tiles are already going on to the first block, the second and third timber frames are underway, whilst groundworks are just beginning on the final block to be constructed.”
