dorset retrofit

This 1950's brick and tile bungalow was robustly built on a commanding site 'Hillcrest' within a historic village set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) just outside the county town of Dorchester in Dorset.

The interior and exterior were both dated and in need of thorough remodelling and enhancing to make the most of the commanding views over the countryside and long Southerly garden.

The ground floor spaces were simply treated, and the kitchen relocated in a strategic move to enable a more sociable, open kitchen / living / dining space. Each of the existing window openings were knocked down to form doorways to provide more daylight and a positive connection to the garden.

Within the first floor roof space, the two existing bedrooms were significantly enhanced by providing full height glazed dormers with glass balustrades. A new shower room and study space were created within the landing area, with new rooflights providing much more light.
